Serious sexual assault on teenage girl
A THIRTEEN-year-old girl was the victim of a sex attack in Putnoe yesterday evening (Monday, December 12).
The victim was walking from the shops in Church Lane along the footpath in Sudeley Walk to Woodside Middle School at around 5.20pm, when a man approached her from behind and pushed her face first into a fence.
He threatened her before sexually assaulting her.
A male member of the public then appeared and told the offender to get off, at which point he ran away towards Church Lane. The victim then run off in the opposite direction.
Detectives urgently want to speak to the man who came to the victim’s assistance. It is believed that he went on his way after the victim ran off but it is vital police trace him as he may have valuable information about the offender, who the victim is unable to describe other than he wore dark clothing and a hoody-style top.
The victim ran home and reported what happened and an area search was carried out. CCTV is now being examined and enquiries continue to identify and trace the offender.
Det Insp Paul Cook said: “It is vital we trace the good Samaritan who came to this girl’s rescue.
“Please come forward and identify yourself to police, or if you are someone who he has spoken to about what he saw, please let us know who this man is.
“If anyone else was in the area at the time and recalls seeing a man running along Church Lane, or nearby at around 5.20pm, please contact the police.”
