Sandy celebrates best ever results
Students at Sandy Upper School celebrated record GCSE exam results.
The school saw a nine per cent increase in teenagers achieving five A* to C grades including English and maths.
This year around 50 per cent of pupils achieved the gold standard of five A* to Cs including English and maths.
Headteacher David Stevinson said: "I am delighted with the results and I praise both students and staff for all their hard work.
"These results show that Sandy Upper School has made good its promise to drive up results and confirms Ofsted's view about the improvement that has been evident at the school."
He added: "I will be congratulating all my staff on the excellent results, but this is not the end of the road.
"There is still more hard work to be done and next year I expect to see another improvement."
The highest achiever was Willem Zwetsloot who achieved nine A*s and one A grade.
Other significant achievements were Rebekah Grassby with seven A*s. two As, and one B.
George Bambrick achieved one A*, nine As and one B, and Emma Goodman got three A*s, six As and one B.
