Salon is in store for landmark shop

Hair and beauty team gives vacant unit a makeover

A hair and beauty salon is getting ready to give a stylish new look to a landmark store surrounded by vacant shops in Dunstable town centre.

The former Buttertons menswear store, in High Street South, is being transformed into Elaine Sullivan-Child Hair & Beauty.

Work is already under way, and it is hoped that the new salon will be opening its doors in late October or early November.

Elaine Sullivan-Child and her mum Angela Atkins are setting up the new venture.

And Elaine said: "I am so passionate about Dunstable. When it came to looking at properties, I looked at lots of places but I just fell in love with Buttertons.

"I think it has everything we need to bring high fashion hair to the high street.

"We really want to take that building and restore it and make it shine."
