Club visits region Count Dracula was once said to call home

Members of a Rotary club paid a visit to a land that Count Dracula was said to once call home.

Rotarians from Biggleswade Rotary Club enjoyed a trip to the Romanian region of Transylvania while visiting their counterparts at the country's Bistrita-Nosa Rotary Club.

The expedition was planned after members of the Romanian club visited Biggleswade last year.

Immediate past president of Biggleswade Rotary Club Tim Leitch said club members very much enjoyed the trip, and that the country turned out to be quite different to what they were expecting.

He said: "The poor impression of Romania in England was immediately dispelled by the warmth and fellowship of the local people.

"The Biggleswade Rotarians were hosted by the local Rotarians and experienced hospitality beyond their expectations."

For the full story see the Biggleswade Chronicle of Friday, July 23.
