Rebels roll to victory in regional skate-off
FLITWICK’S very own roller derby team were celebrating this weekend after coming out victorious in their first ever public game on Saturday.
The all-girl team of roller skaters, who train at the Flitwick Leisure Centre, beat Northamptonshire’s Vendetta Vixens 284 points to eight in the first event of the regional End Of The World Series.
The tournament sees six teams from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northants and Oxford battling it out to be crowned The End of The World survivors.
Team captain Jade Smith, aka Inky Minx, said: “The game was really exciting and we all had a mix of nerves and excitement.
“Roller derby is amazing it’s a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone from the young to the more mature spectator, it’s for ladies of all shapes and sizes everyone has a role within this sport whether it be on or off skates.”
