Quiz to remember family man
Mick Shadlow described as 'brain of Britain'
An annual quiz in memory of a Luton man, described by his family as the "brain of Britain", will be held for the seventh time next week.
Mick Shadlow died in 2003, aged 56, after suffering with bowel cancer.
Son Stephen said: "My dad was very knowledgeable about everything. If you wanted something answering you could ask him anything. He was a brain of Britain. There's no better fitting tribute to my dad than a quiz really."
The Mick Shadlow Memorial Quiz is run by Luton's Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Club – which was founded by Mick in 1987 and is now run by Stephen and his brother – and raises cash for Macmillan Cancer Care and Keech Hospice Care.
To date the quizzes have raised nearly 12,000 for the charities.
This year the quiz is being held on Friday, February 12, at 7pm at the Celtic Club in Chobham Street.
It costs 5 per person and teams can have a maximum of four players.
Stephen said: "We are always looking for extra teams to come along on the night to support us and have a bit of fun as well."
A raffle is held on the night.
