Bedfordshire Police would like to thank members of the public for their help in connection with a suspicious incident on Bedford Road, Kempston, last week, when there was a reported of an attempted baby snatch.

Police appealed for witnesses after a mother reported a man had approached her while she was in her front garden last Wednesday morning with her 18 month old baby.

She thought the man had reached out to try to take the baby and correctly reported the incident to police.

However, following the public appeal, officers have been able to speak to the man, who has learning difficulties, and establish the incident was a misunderstanding in communication.

The lady has also been updated by officers and understands there was no criminal intent or action in his gesture.
