A prom king and queen were chosen when more than 100 students in Year 11, aged 16, had a fun evening at the Bedford Academy Prom.
Year 11 students Jack Langley and Shawnie Divney were voted Prom King and Queen on the night by their classmates, while fellow students were awarded other fun titles including kindest female and male, funniest laugh, best dancer and best dressed.
Organised by a 12-strong student committee, the prom took place in a grand marquee in the grounds of the academy.
The evening began with students arriving in an array of eye-catching vehicles, ranging from personalised transit vans to stretch limousines.
For many pupils this was a fun opportunity to celebrate their hard work over the last academic year.
Students enjoyed fine dining and a selection of mocktails - non-alcoholic cocktails - created for the event including Mango Rush, Regal Refresher and Ray of Sunshine.
The prom committee has been hosting events all term to raise funds for the glamorous night with responsibilities including compilation of the DJ’s playlist, choosing the menu and selecting decorations.
Claire Smith, principal, said: “The prom committee displayed the true dedication and determination needed to organise such a successful event and worked hard to make sure the evening ran smoothly. The night was a truly unforgettable experience that our students will treasure for many years to come.”
