Poundland to open at The Mall Arndale
New discount store will create 37 jobs
Discount shopping spot Poundland will create 37 new jobs when it opens its brand new store in The Mall Arndale in Luton on Thursday (May 14).
The bargain store will offer shoppers value for money on brands and savings on hundreds of products such as coffee and toothpaste.
And Coronation Street star Anthony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in the long-running soap, will be visiting the shop on Saturday at 10am.
Everything at Poundland costs 1, but offers mean that customers often walk away with more than one item for 1.
Poundland's David Coxon said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be opening a store in Luton and creating jobs for local people during these tough times. I'm sure the shoppers in Luton are extremely savvy and will be delighted by the amazing value that Poundland offers."
The Mall Arndale boss Brian McFarland said: "They will be in there for about 18 months until the new development opens. It's really good news because they are a really good retailer."
Fashion outlet Blue Star has also opened a store in the shopping centre.
The retailer has set up shop on a short-term lease in the unit which used to house Silverscreen.
