Pothole hit squad gets to work
PESKY potholes could be a thing of the past in Bedford, because the pothole hit squad has arrived.
The team will react to calls from the public to quickly repair potholes throughout the borough.
Bedford Borough Council claimed this week that the squad will provide a faster response and be able to repair smaller ones in minutes.
Some streets where there are a number of larger holes will still require more extensive repairs, but the team will assess the work, judge them by priority, and deal with them as quickly as possible.
Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson said: “We have put a great deal of extra funding into local roads and pavements, with more resurfacing and repairs taking place across the borough.
“But the fight back against the backlog of works left by the former county council is not just about spending money, it is about spending it wisely.
“Thanks to the investment we’ve made, the new pothole hit squad will be able to be out on the streets carrying out swift, high quality repairs to potholes reported by our local residents.”
Residents who wish to report a pothole can contact the hit squad on 01234 228661.
