Police aim to crack down on raves

Officers launch Operation Extra

Police are appealing for extra help from the public to stop illegal raves this summer.

Officers have launched an initiative called Operation Extra to clamp down on raves, and want residents to get in touch if they suspect that a rave is being planned in their area as early tip offs are vital in stopping the events taking place.

Tell tale signs include large convoys of vehicles travelling through the county or driving around in circles waiting for last minute telephone directions to raves in areas like private fields, farm buildings or old warehouses.

Other warnings include cryptic messages on websites, noticeboards and venues where young people socialise.

The force want to crack down on such events as officers say they are unlicensed and present a health and safety risk to those who attend them.

Anyone with information relating to illegal raves, should contact Beds Police, in confidence on 01234 841212, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
