Police surgeries for gay community
Monthly meetings at California Inn
Luton's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities can now make use of a special policing surgery once a month.
The surgeries, being held at the California Inn in Chapel Street once a month by members of the Beds Police Safer Neighbourhood Team for Luton town centre, start on Friday, May 22.
It is hoped they will help build community relations and give members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender communities an opportunity to voice their concerns.
PC Dale Ashpole, who is organising the surgeries, is keen to encourage anyone who finds it difficult to talk to the police in an official environment to come along to seek any help or advice they may need.
He said: "Quite often members of different communities find it difficult to share their concerns with the police and I hope this surgery will provide a more relaxed atmosphere where we can build bridges within communities and people will feel comfortable accessing their local policing service."
