Police hunt driver of dark coloured car which hit man walking on A428

A 24-year-old man was seriously injured in a collision while walking on the A428 Road, Bromham, on Sunday morning, February 16.

The collision happened as the man was walking towards Bedford at approximately 3.45am and a dark coloured car struck him.

The man was taken to Bedford Hospital for treatment to head and chest injuries. He remains in hospital and is described as being in a critical but stable condition.

Police were already close to the scene when the collision happened and saw a dark coloured car leaving the area along the A428 towards Bedford.

PC Mark Atkins, investigating, is keen to trace the driver and the vehicle involved in the collision.

PC Atkins said: “A full collision investigation is underway and I would urge anyone who has information relating to the driver or the vehicle involved to contact the police as soon as possible.

“The car involved will have significant damage to its bodywork and may be a dark green/blue Ford Focus. I would encourage anyone who has noticed a car which fits this description either belonging to a family member, a neighbour or a colleague, to contact the police immediately.”

Police in Bedford are also appealing for information from the public after a pedestrian was injured in a collision in the town on Saturday, February 15.

The collision happened as a 32-year-old man was walking with his family along Old Ford End Road, close to the junction of Saunders Gardens, between 7.30pm and 8pm.

The man crossed the road and was hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra which left the scene without stopping.

The man attended hospital for treatment to a cut to his head and is now recovering at home.

A full collision investigation is being undertaken, and PC Mark West, investigating, is keen to trace anyone who saw the collision or anyone who saw the Astra leaving the Queen’s Park area between 7.30pm and 8pm on Saturday night.
