Place in UK top 100 list for Bedford School

Bedford School is one of the top 100 independent schools in the country for A-levels, according to a new nationwide guide.

New league tables published by The Independent newspaper rank the school in 90th place, ahead of rival regional schools Haileybury and Oundle.

Bedford School is the only local independent school to be included in the prestigious rankings, unveiled at the end of 2012.

Head Master John Moule said: “We’re delighted to be in the top 100 independent schools.

“Academic ambition and aspiration are at the heart of what we do and it is great to see our success recognised nationally.

“Both the boys and staff continually strive to achieve great things, both in the classroom and outside it, and this result bears testimony to their endeavours”.

Bedford School, an all boys school, was founded in 1552.

It is the oldest of five independent schools in Bedford run by the Harpur Trust charity.
