More than 100 people packed into Thurleigh Village Hall on Monday night to discuss plans to move a recycling depot from Kimbolton Road to Coplar Farm.

The Growing Beds Recycling Service says it has outgrown its current site and has submitted a planning application to move to Coplar Farm.

Cliff Smith, whose family has lived on the farm for more than 60 years said: “There was standing room only in the meeting. Many residents expressed their views and concerns about the application.” He added “the application is wrong at all levels – there will be noise, pollution, contamination dust and smells,” while others queried the proposed increase in capacity to 49,000 tonnes of waste per year, and the related traffic on the A6.

GrowingBeds was unavailable for comment.
