The Catholic community is preparing for its biennial Procession of Faith, which will see one of its most revered relics put on display in Bedford Park.
St Joseph’s Church,in Brereton Road, is home to the UK’s copy of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a holy image housed in a basilica in Mexico. Depicting the Virgin Mary, it is regularly displayed at churches around the country.
The procession begins at St Joseph’s and passes through Bedford before heading to the cricket pavilion in Bedford Park where Bishop Peter Doyle will lead a service.
While many of the town’s Catholic churches will take part, Christians from other denominations are welcome.
The event starts at 1.30pm on Sunday, July 27. The service, which concludes with Benediction, will be held at 3.30pm.
