PEOPLE in Bedfordshire can now access online information on local NHS services and staying healthy in multiple languages with the introduction of an auto-translation service.
The new service has been introduced by NHS Choiuce, the online ‘front door’ to the NHS.
The new NHS Choice auto-translation service provides the nine million visitors a month with the ability to translate thousands of pages on NHS services, over 800 leaflets on conditions and treatments, and health and wellbeing advice into more than 50 languages.
Visitors to the site can translate most pages of this website, using Google Translate, into more than 50 languages by clicking the ‘translate’ link at the top of the page and selecting the language.
Director of Public Health at NHS Bedfordshire Muriel Scott said “We welcome the addition of this free translation facility on NHS Choices.
“This will allow members of the public from the many different communities in Bedfordshire, who may have been prevented from using the site previously due to language barriers, to benefit from the site’s useful information.
NHS Choices is the UK’s biggest health website and it provides a comprehensive health information service that puts people in control of their healthcare.
