New arts hub open
b12-065 Launch of 123 Create, Midland Rd, Bedford, a brand new space dedicated to music, food and art for the Bedford community.
A CREATIVE centre for Bedford youngsters hosted a special launch event on Saturday.
Bedford Creative Arts (BCA) and Taste Real Food Bedfordshire will use the 123 Create site, in Midland Road as a hub for a host of creative training and development activities to help inspire young people.
The event kicked off on Saturday with Asian drumming and dancing and the Taste Real Food team served up vegetable tagine and cous cous for all the guests.
There was then a celebratory procession to the site which was officially opened before members of a youth group, who have already benefited from the scheme, received their certificates.
BCA will use the shop front of the property as a platform to attract young people to get involved in their schemes and express themselves creatively.
And the back of the building and its restaurant kitchen will be managed by Taste Real Food Bedford and will be used to promote community cohesion through cultural foods.
The kitchen will also act as one of the bases for the group’s sensory education project.
Part of the funding for the project had been provided through ward grants given by local councillors.
