Nadine’s seat saved by Boundary Commission?
Mid Beds MP Nadine Dorries
PROPOSALS to get rid of Mid Beds MP Nadine Dorries’ seat may have been scrapped, it appears.
The MP, whose constituency was set to disappear under changes to parliamentary constituency boundaries, said earlier today that she had learned it would now become ‘Mid Beds and Harpenden’.
Posting on Twitter, Ms Dorries said she had received the news in a letter from the Boundary Commission, ahead of tomorrow’s official publication of its revised proposals.
The Mid Beds and Harpenden seat would also include Caddington and Wheathampstead, she said.
The initial proposals set out by the Boundary Commission last year would have seen parts of Dunstable join with Luton North and Ms Dorries’ seat, which includes Toddington, Harlington, Barton and Streatley, axed completely.
The commission wants to reduce the number of serving MPs in England from 650 to 600.
A consultation took place after the publication of the proposals, and the revised set will be published tomorrow.
