Mum's fury as bullies return

A mum has fiercely criticised a school for allowing students who attacked her son to return.

Police were called after the 15-year-old suffered a broken hand and bruising and needed hospital treatment following the incident at Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade.

His mother Teresa Hills initially praised the school for dealing with the incident - but is now angry that the culprits will be allowed to return to Stratton.

School headteacher Neil Bramwell has defended the decision - telling the Chronicle the boys will be taught separately for six weeks and will take part in a restorative programme.

The incident took place at the school in the lunch break on February 24.

Mrs Hills claimed her son had water and sandwiches thrown at him, was wrapped up in sticky tape, and was then punched, kicked and stamped on.

Mrs Hills, 42, said: "The school has been good in the way they have dealt with the incident, but I think for a school that advertises zero tolerance, they just haven't followed it through.

"These boys are going to be let back into the school and I just don't feel safe having my children in that school any more.

Mr Bramwell said: "To date two boys have been excluded from school for an extended period of time and are not yet allowed to return to school.

"The school recognises and has sympathy with the feelings of the parents and the boy who was assaulted and we understand the position they are taking."
