MBTC-01-10-12- Holywell Academy Cranfield. Holywell Middle School is becoming an academy. Pupils and teachers from Holywell Academy and pupils from its feeder school.
Youngsters and teachers celebrated this week after a school moved to being an academy.
On Friday, September 28 Holywell Middle School in Cranfield received formal confirmation from the Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove that he was granting it academy status from October 1.
To mark the occasion pupils and headteachers from its feeder schools gathered at Holywell on Monday to celebrate.
Headteacher Pater Haddon said: “I was delighted to welcome headteacher and pupils from across the Wootton schools to mark this new stafe in the life of the school.”
He added: “This highly successful family of schools with over 3,000 pupils and students serves both Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough.
“However the two authorities have never really effectively addressed the fact that there are such a significant number of pupils who will cross the local authority border at least once in their school life.
“Fortunately for pupils and families there are excellent working relations across the whole group of schools, producing top of league results throughout their various tests and exams and reflected in the high-quality Ofsted rankings for these schools”
