Mayor Davd Hodgson loaned his robes of office during a special game of football in Wixams.

Cllr Hodgson visted the Dawn Until Dusk before and after school club, based at Wixams, on Friday, March 21, where he played table football with the children and talked to them about his role as mayor of Bedford.

Club proprietor Tracy Hutton said: “He also allowed one of our after school club managers, Alice Wisson, to dress in his robes as her grandfather Victor Wisson was Mayor of Bedford many years ago.”

Childminder Tracy formed the Dawn Until Dusk before and after school club which is based at Lakeview School.

The club started with just two children but as the population grew in the Wixams development the club gradually started to increase and sustain childcare numbers.

An Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating in all 17 areas of the early years foundation stage saw the club’s popularity grow quickly and were soon full to capacity with 90 families registered.

Along with Alison Davies, a former local authority childcare officer and a twice graded Outstanding practitioner herself, they have formed Dawn until Dusk Limited and run clubs at Stephenson Lower School, Shortstown Primary and Haynes Lower School, as well as a forest schools themed holiday club.
