Man attacked with metal bar in town centre
Police appealing for witnesses
A 43-year-old man was hit over the head with a metal bar while he waited for a taxi in Luton town centre.
The victim had been on a night out in the town on Saturday, June 27, and had walked to Guildford Street to get something to eat and a taxi home between 11.30pm and 12.30am.
But as he was standing at the taxi rank talking with two other people a man hit him over head with a metal bar.
A police officer on patrol saw what happened and a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
He was later released on police bail.
The victim was taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital for treatment for a broken jaw.
PC Sabina McMahon, investigating, said: "Although a person has been arrested in connection with this incident, this is still an ongoing investigation. We need to trace anyone who was in the Guildford Street area of Luton on Sunday morning to come forward and tell the police what they know."
