Man stabbed in alleyway attack

A YOUNG man was stabbed and his friend received facial injuries in a late-night alleyway attack just yards from a school.
Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the 21-year-old local man was stabbed and his 22-year-old friend was assaulted in Flitwick.
The incident took place at around 10.50pm on Sunday in an alleyway at Bluebell Close, just outside Woodland Academy, when the pair were attacked by three men - two are described as Asian and one as white.
One of the victims suffered stab wounds to his stomach, while the other sustained injuries to his face.
Both men were taken to Bedford South Wing Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “I heard a couple of men shouting out a name and what sounded like someone being chased, but you never know if it’s just kids larking about.
“The first thing I knew about it being more serious was when the police arrived.
“It was a bit of a shock to hear someone had been stabbed.”
Det Con Richard Adams, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who was in the Bluebell Close area at the time of the attack.
He said: “This was a very serious assault which has left the two victims with some very nasty injuries.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the assault to come forward.
“Any information – however small or insignificant you may think it is – could really help with our enquiries.”
A man has been arrested by officers in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
