A man was knocked unconscious in recreation land off Moor Lane, Bedford, as he was walking with his heavily pregnant girlfriend.

The 27-year-old man was attacked on the old Abbey School site at about 5.45pm on Wednesday, July 30 after he was chased by a gang of up to about five young men.

out to be relatively minor, although he has nasty cuts and bruising to his face. His girlfriend was not injured in the incident.

Detectives are looking for independent witnesses to the incident. The group of described as in their late teens, some white, some black and others mixed race.

Three men have since been arrested, but investigating officer Det Con Ian Johnson of Greyfriars CID would like to hear from anyone who was in the park at the time of the offence, who may have seen what led up to this incident.

He said: “We have made some arrests but obviously there were a number of people involved in the initial incident. I do want to hear from independent witnesses even if you believe your information is not significant - please don’t assume that we have all the information that we need or leave it to someone else to contact us.”

Det Con Johnson can be contact direct on 01234 275114, or call the 24-hour police non-

emergency number 101.
