Detectives in Bedford are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was assaulted and threatened with a knife during a robbery on Friday evening (August 30).
The incident took place at around 6.40pm as the 22-year-old victim was walking along the Embankment, close to Bedford Rowing Club.
The victim was approached by a group of six or seven Asian males and one asked if he had a cigarette.
When the victim said that he didn’t, he was pushed to the floor and kicked by the group.
One of the offenders then held a knife to the victim’s throat and demanded cash and another offender stole the victim’s wallet.
The group then fled towards Borough Hall and the victim called the police.
Detective Constable Richard Adams, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack or may have information about the offenders who are described as being Asian males, in their late teens.
One of the offenders was wearing a green baseball cap with a star on it.
