Lostprophets leadsinger charged alongside Bedford woman

Lostprophets leadsinger Ian Watkins has been charged with child sexual offences alongside a Bedford woman.

The pair as well as a woman from Doncaster will appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court this morning.

Mr Watkins, 35, is charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children.

The two women are charged with similar offences as part of the same case.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Peter Doyle, said: “Specially-trained staff are available to speak to anyone with concerns or information regarding this investigation and a dedicated telephone number has been set up.

“I want to encourage anyone who has any concerns or information which they think may be relevant to contact us.

“Safeguarding children involved in such cases is always a high priority and as such measures have already been taken.”

Lostprophets are a Welsh rock band. The group have achieved two top ten hits on the UK singles chart and have sold around 3.5 million albums worldwide. They have also appeared at the Esquires nightclub in Bedford.
