Lad falls in frozen river

A TEENAGE boy was hospitalised after he fell into a frozen river on Saturday (February 11).

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) WAS alerted to Newnham Avenue in Bedford at around 2.45pm.

An ambulance and a duty officer were sent to the scene.

Service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “We believe the boy to be 16-years-old and following treatment at the scene by ambulance staff, he was taken to Bedford Southwing Hospital for further care.”
