Teenagers were threatened, attacked and robbed by thugs wearing Halloween masks in Bedford on Wednesday.

Two youths wearing mask similar to the one worn in the film Scream and brandishing a knife and a hammer attacked a group of teenagers aged between 14 and 16 in a subway in Putnoe Lane.

One of the victims was hit on the leg with a hammer in the attack which happened between 6.35pm and 6.40pm.

The pair stole an iPhone, Blackberry and a bracelet running towards Wheathouse Close. The victims quickly ran to nearby houses and raised the alarm.

DC Emma Dahl, who is investigating the crime, said: “This was a frightening experience for these youngsters who managed to raise the alarm and police were quickly on the scene.

“Unfortunately, the offenders had fled the area but if anyone know who was out wearing masks similar to those described then please contact the police.”

Anyone with information about this crime can contact DC Emma Dahl, in confidence, on 01234 275357, Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
