Kitten kicked to death at retail park
A TINY black and white kitten was kicked to death by two men at a retail park in Kempston on Monday night.
A witness saw two young men in their twenties kicking the kitten in the car park opposite McDonalds in the Interchange Retail Park between 11.30pm and 12.05am.
At first the witness thought the men were kicking a football, but intervened when she saw it was actually a kitten and the men fled in a black Corsa.
She picked up the kitten, which was aged 12 to 14 weeks and took it to a vet in St Neots, but it died from injuries consistent with the attack including a crushed rib cage.
RSPCA animal welfare officer Jane Folly, said: “I can’t believe that anyone would be so cruel as to kick an animal to death.
“We need to find out who was behind the attack as if they are capable of this they could well pose a danger to other animals.”
When caught the men could be charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. The maximum penalty is a six-month prison sentence and/ or a £20,000 fine.
If you have any information about the incident you can contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
