Former police officer and Police Crime Commissioner candidate Jas Parmar will stand for the Conservatives in the Mayoral election 2015.
Conservative members from the constituencies of North East Bedfordshire, Bedford & Kempston and Mid Bedfordshire, who live in the Bedford Borough Council area, held a packed hustings meeting last night (Thursday) to decide on their candidate for the Mayoral elections 2015.
The successful candidate was Jas Parmar, a former police officer, PCC candidate, Borough Councillor and parliamentary candidate, and currently a businessman and sub-postmaster in Kempston.
Jas said: “ I am honoured and privileged to have been selected by the membership to stand for election as Mayor of Bedford Borough. “Bedford is a wonderful Borough, and I have spent many years working with all the communities, both urban and rural.
“I very much look forward to campaigning and meeting residents in the coming months.
“We need to look at the bigger picture for Bedford Borough; the current administration is not forward thinking or business minded.
“I believe we can work with the talent and strengths in our Borough to raise standards for everyone in both the town and the
villages, and look to a bright and prosperous future.”
