It's Biggleswade Carnival parade!

Are you ready to party? The highlight of Biggleswade's summer is here, with the grand carnival parade set to hit the streets tomorrow (Saturday).

Thousands regularly turn out for the event and this year will be no exception, with the colourful floats promising to make a real song and dance in the musicals themed parade.

The parade, which will also include walkers in fancy dress, vintage cars, marching bands and the carnival court headed by Queen Natasha Brewer, sets out from Holmemead Middle School in Biggleswade at 2pm after the judging of the floats.

And it is expected to hit the Market Square, where carnival goers can also enjoy the rides and games of Harris' Fun Fair, at around 2.30pm.

Remember to bring some spare change, because walkers will be rattling collecting buckets along the way, with all donations being given to local worthy causes.

And the Biggleswade Chronicle team will also be out and about on the day, giving out goodies including lucky stickers – giving you the chance to win a cash prize.

Carnival chairman Alan Richards said: "We've got at least 10 or 11 floats promised as well as other exhibits. It's a great atmosphere and an enjoyable couple of hours watching the floats and enjoying the occasion.

"It's a happy day, I can't think of a better way to describe it. Everyone seems to enjoy it and it helps gel the town into a community a bit.

"So I hope people just come out and enjoy the day - and hopefully the sun as well!"

The Grand Draw fun day will take place at the Gardeners Arms from 2pm on Sunday with the chance to win some top prizes including silver jewellery, an LCD TV and meals out.

Harris' Fun Fair is also hoping to bring along some attractions to help the day go with a bang and there will also be a disco, bouncy castle and face painting.

The draw itself takes place at 4pm.

The five-a-side football tournament rounds off the events on July 11 and 12.
