It’s all about the Oxjam!

Musical talent, and raising money for a good cause will be the aim as the Oxjam Bedford Takeover rolls into town.

Five Bedford venues will be the scene of the music festival which will showcase the best local talent from noon until late on Saturday, October 27.

Each of our venues will be ‘taken over’ to bring Bedford a line-up of over 50 acts, from rock to reggae and folk to funk.

Takeover manager Claire Sullivan, said: “The Oxjam Bedford Takeover team are delighted to have already raised over £4,000 for Oxfam’s vital work.

“The support we’ve had from Bedford’s businesses and people has been staggering and we’ve been overwhelmed by their generosity.

“Now we look forward to welcoming them to the Takeover on October 27 and sharing in what will be a fantastic day of really great local music. Get your dancing shoes on Bedford – we’ll be waiting down the front.”

Preparations for the event began earlier this year with a host of warm up events across the town. On the day local venues The Pad, Esquires, Badlands, The Bedford Arms and The Bear will play their part in making the event a fundraising success. The Takeover is organised by a team of volunteers with a passion for local music and an aim to fight poverty. The event is part of a programme of national events throughout October, all raising money for Oxfam.

Wristbands, which get you entry to all the venues on the day cost £8 in advance or £10 on the door of any of the venues.

To get hold of yours visit Oxfam in Bedford High Street, or Luscious Juice Bar in Lime Street.
