A breast cancer survivor has used her experiences to write an autobiographical book to raise money for the hospital that treated her.
Sarah-Jane Phillips, 41, has penned the inspirational book Worms On Parachutes: Mystical Allies In My Cancer Survival, which tells the upbeat and friendly story of her fight with breast cancer five years ago
And this wasn’t the first time Sarah-Jane had to battle the disease, as she suffered with Hodgkin disease when she was just 16 years old.
Sarah-Jane, who is married and has two daughters, said: “The first thing I thought when they told me was my kids, how was I going to tell them? And then it’s just shock, you go numb and just think ‘how am I going to deal with this?’”
Sarah-Jane, of Silsoe, underwent a mastectomy and eight rounds of chemotherapy. And she opted to have a second mastectomy because there was a higher risk of her contracting the disease because of her childhood cancer.
She added: “My surgeon was absolutely fantastic. My second reconstruction surgery took 26 hours and he worked all the way through.”
You can order Worms On A Parachute for £7.99 from Amazon and it is also on Kindle.
