Houghton's family fun in the sun
Crowds turn out for history day
The sun shone and the crowds turned out for a day packed with family fun in Houghton Regis on Saturday, June 27.
Houghton Regis Family History Day had all sorts of attractions, including a display of vintage Vauxhall cars, jazz, crafts demonstrations and children's storytelling and games.
Visitors could bring along their interesting finds to an archaeology roadshow, enjoy free guided walks and see chainsaw carving, candle-making, willow weaving, straw plaiting and embroidery.
The event, held on The Green, also included gun dog displays and ferret racing.
Potter Kate Radford was among crafts workers who came along, and lots of children had the chance to make a pot.
There was music from the Bill Bailey Jazz Band, lots of stalls and sideshows, and the Bedfordshire Family History Society was on hand to chat to visitors.
Vintage vehicles were on loan from the Vauxhall Heritage Centre.
This event was organised by Central Beds Council, Houghton Regis town centre management committee and Houghton Regis Town Council.
