But this extraordinary scene will kick off a talk on transport through the ages in the area, being held next week.

The latest Queen’s Park Lives will cover horses and carts, cars, lorries and bikes, which have travelled the roads.

Talk spokesman Paul Nicholson said: “The illustrated talk will also cover boats, airplanes and even hovercraft...

“Another section of the talk will look at the history of the railways in Bedford, something not covered in our previous 40 talks”

The event will be held in the Parish Room at All Saints’ Church, in Westbourne Road, on Thursday July 7, starting at 7.30pm.

Admission will be £2 on the door, refreshments will be available and a raffle will be held.
