Businesses are joining together to hold an indoor market in a b id to revive the town centre.

The event is taking place on March 15 between 9am and 2pm in the Harpur Suite and has been organised by the Thani Ram Foundation - a family charity that set up BluBeri cafe in the High Street,

There will be a number of small businesses taking part to showcase what they have to offer. Stall will inlude mobile massage, jewellery, dog products, gifts and handbags, and lots more.

BluBeri owner James Jandhu saud: “Back in the day the community got together to solve issues. Today we blame the council.

It’s true that the sense of community has vanished due to several reasons. Each town centre is a clone of others.

“It is clearly evident that there are fewer independent shops than in past generations.

“Maybe we need to return to the days when we took responsibility for our community.

“One of the ways to do this is to support small businesses. Supporting small businesses is vital to the health of a local community.”

Shoppers are being encouraged to come along and support the project that, if successful, could be held monthly.
