Help needed to help make roller sports facility a reality

RollBack is a charitable organisation on a mission; to establish an indoor skating facility to provide young people with a safe, monitored environment in which they can skate, learn, develop and have fun.

Although a venue has not been pinned down yet, Rollback bosses are hosting a special fundraising event in Jubilee Park, Bedford to help get the show on the road, and raise awareness of their campaign.

They have also started an online petition in a bid to gauge support for the scheme.

Organiser Lydia North said: “This will be Bedfordshire’s first indoor roller sports facility and will cater for skaters of all disciplines, skateboarders, longboarders, scooter riders and BMXers of all ages and abilities!

“Our plan is to create the roller sports facility to house a full size roller hockey & roller derby track, with the skatepark boasting a wide range of progressive, flowing ramps, skills zones, jumps and foam pits.

“Our campaign trail is to raise the finance needed, but in order to reach our start-up goal we need your support.”

She added: “We’re calling on individuals, investors and organisations to find out more about our plans and join us in making the indooor roller sports facility a reality.”

The World On Wheels fundraising event will take place on April 30, from 10am and all ages are welcome.

There will be competitions, a sponsored 2k run, a skateboard and scooter contest and a bmx freestyle.
