A consultation has begun on plans for Bedford’s Riverside North development.
The planning application has been received from developers Coplan and validated by the council. The issue is now open to the public to make representations for or against the scheme.
Dave Hodgson, the mayor of Bedford, said: “Riverside North is an extremely important development opportunity for Bedford Borough. This proposed development brings the potential to attract up to 500,000 additional visitors into the town centre every year, open up new public space by the river and make a visit to the town centre and a visit to enjoy the riverside one and the same.
“The potential for important regeneration to take place in these tough times is very exciting and I hope lots of people take the chance to make their views known about what I see as a superb new development opportunity for Bedford town centre on the riverside.
“The consultation is now open and I urge everyone with views on this significant development to have their say.”
The consultation closes at 5pm on February 27.
