Hat-trick of awards for Bedford’s pubs

Three Bedfordshire pubs scooped awards at this year’s Charles Wells’ Eagle Star Awards.

Out of ten awards being sought by Charles Wells’ 200 pubs, Richard and Karen Bray from The White Hart in Maulden won Best Kerb Appeal, recognising their excellent external presentation and al fresco dining.

Nigel and Sue Anstead, licensees at The White Horse in Newnham Avenue, Bedford, were applauded for their commitment to staff development with the Best Training House gong.

And Martin Bartlett and Naomi Stanford, from The Devonshire Arms in Dudley Street, Bedford, took home the prestigious Best Cask Beer House accolade.

Last year the couple took home the Best Newcomer award, having taken over the pub in 2011.
