A brave boy is gearing up for a day of theme park fun with his brothers after receiving a special visit during a stay in hospital.
Gus Priestley was recovering in Bedford Hospital after an operation when Gully Mouse, Gulliver’s of Milton Keynes theme park mascot, paid him a surprise visit with children’s charity Pod.
Gully was there with the charity, which gives children in hospital access to a variety of much-needed entertainment, to launch a year of fundraising after naming Pod as its charity of the year. And as a special treat, Gully Mouse chose Gus to receive a family ticket to enjoy a day out at Gulliver’s once he has recovered from his hospital stay.
Gus’s mum Michelle said: “Gus is now on the mend - meeting Gully Mouse and Pod’s magician helped put a smile on his face. It’s not exactly what you expect when visiting a hospital! We have five sons and my husband has been a firefighter for 25 years - although it’s a great job, it doesn’t allow for many extra treats. So when Gus was chosen to receive a free day out we were truly grateful. We can’t wait to take our boys to the Milton Keynes park for a wonderful family day out.”
A Gulliver’s spokesman said: “Gully Mouse has met so many inspiring children on his hospital trips with Pod. We look forward to welcoming Gus and his brothers to let off some steam at the park when he’s fighting fit!”
