Guides' gift for girls in Africa
New knickers and 160 bars of soap are heading to Sierra Leone thanks to the efforts of the 1st Kempston Guides.
The girls donated the items to Bedford Bloomers, a charitable initiative which supports The Kori Development Project. The project helps girls in the Kori Chiefdom meet their hygiene needs and continue to attend school.
Guiding leader Sandra Cove said the project allows guides “to help girls, like themselves, in another continent”. She added guides are encouraged to “speak out on issues that affect girls and young women across the world”.
