New Order bassist plays The Pad

Legendary Joy Division and New Order bass player Peter Hook is coming to Bedford.

Energetically devoted to music and all things rock and roll the big man himself will entertain punters with a spectacular DJ set at The Pad in Lurke Street on Friday (February 12).

Hooky has been name-checked by modern bands, such as The Killers, White Lies, The Enemy, The Chemical Brothers and even Hot Chip who recently recorded a cover version of Joy Division’s Transmission for Warchild’s Heroes album.

Not one to rest on his quite sizeable laurels Mr Hook teamed up with Andy Rourke of the Smiths and Mani from Primal Scream to form Freebass, a Manchester supergroup of epic proportions.

The DJ set promises much and with three decades of quality music tucked into his record box the night promises to be nostalgic and memorable as well as hip and progressive.

Peter Hook’s DJ sets fuse tracks which defined a musical generation, where the genres of indie and dance were fused together and where boundaries were broken. Hooky plays major records from the Hacienda, Manchester revolution and of course some New Order classics and exclusive remixes.

So don’t let love tear you apart, head on down to The Pad Bedford and have a night out to remember.

Hooky will be joined The Pad’s resident DJ Dave Davis who returns to the venue for his first set since 2008.

Tickets for the club night are on sale from Planet Clothing men’s store in the Arcade, Bedford and are available via Seetickets.com priced 7.
