INDIE pop band The Feeling has been lined up to headline this year’s Amp Rocks music festival in a bid to make the event bigger and better than ever.

The band, who shot to fame in 2005 after their first limited release of hit single Fill My Little World, is set to headline the AmpRocks stage on Friday, June 29, to kick off this year’s Ampthill Festival.

The band will be playing the event, which is being hosted by BBC Introducing in Beds, Herts and Bucks, with support from O’casan, who have just announced a UK tour that will finish at AmpRocks.

Fresh from supporting McFly, As We Climb is also on the bill, along with Redborne Upper School’s Battle of the Bands winners Singing 4 Chips.

AmpRocks has been supported by Waitrose, who have donated £2,000 to the organising committee to help put on the event.

Vice-chairman of Ampthill Festival Fran Bove said: “We are ecstatic to have secured The Feeling as our headline act. We have been working really hard to get an act to top last year’s, which was the Lightning Seeds.

“We are over the moon that we have managed to get such a top band, and I’m hoping that we will continue to go from strength to strength.”

AmpRocks will kick of the three-day community non-profit Ampthill Festival that is held every year at Ampthill Park. And this year the festival takes on an Olympic theme.

The fun continues on Saturday with the fourth Ampthill Proms, which will see a night of Olympic-themed songs played by local orchestras and bands.

The repertoire will include the classics and the popular sing-along towards the end of the evening with a finale of spectacular fireworks.

The free gala day on Sunday will kick off at 1pm with a walking parade from The Firs Lower School and then an afternoon of fun for all the family.

There will be arena events, live music all day, food, stalls and more.

Tickets for AmpRocks are £15 and they are available from www.seetickets.com, Waitrose or Dr Barbers.
