Girlguiding inspires winning garden

A DESIGNER has won an award for her garden which celebrates 100 years of guiding.

Philippa Pearson, of Hatley Road in Gamlingay, won the People's Choice award at the Hampton Court Flower Show after she received the most votes from visitors. She was also given a silver gilt medal for her work.

Philippa. 51, said: "It feels absolutely wonderful. I can't really describe it. The garden was really popular with visitors. "

She was introduced to Girlguiding UK's patron, Sophie, Countess of Wessex at the start of the show.

Philippa said: "Her Royal Highness was very interested in the colourful planting schemes and loved the productive patch with its unusual, interesting and international vegetables."
