Bedford tennis coach Claire Norman is proving to be a ‘smash hit’ with her students at the Riverside Lawn Tennis Club on Goldington Road.

Having played for the Bedfordshire Lawn Tennis Association as a youngster, Claire went on to coach junior tennis in the USA for five years.

Now the resident coach at Riverside Claire, 26, teaches tennis to all ages and abilities including specialist coaching for people with learning disabilities and wheelchair users.

The Bedford Riverside LTC was founded over 100 years ago but is always looking to sign up new members and draw people into the sport.

As a result Claire is helping to promote an open day on Sunday, June 22.

Part of the Great British Tennis Weekend, organised across the UK by the Lawn Tennis Association, clubs all over Bedfordshire will be opening their doors and offering free events on the day.

The open day is an opportunity to book a free coaching session, have a work out with cardio tennis, enter the fastest serve competition and youngsters can have a go at mini tennis.

All details and booking information for Riverside Club, and all the tennis clubs taking part, can be found at www.greatbritishtennisweekend.com.
