Traditional ales, and a host of locally produced food was on offer at the Swan Hotel’s beer and food festival at the weekend.
From Thursday til Sunday the hotel, in association with Taste Real Food Bedfordshire held the event which showcased all the best of everything.
Throughout the festival there was also an opportunity to see food demonstrations, listen to the best local music and enjoy a selection of beers including Timothy Taylor Landlord, the CAMRA champion beer.
And on Saturday night Taste Real Food held its Traditional Sausage Challenge Cup, an annual event in memory of former member Jay Bettsworth.
Judges, including Dave Hodgson, the Mayor of Bedford, sampled a wide range of sausages and crowned 19-year-old James Fraser the winner.
James is Britain’s youngest master butcher and works at Summerhill Farm Shop, in Cardington.
Taste Real Food leader Sue Miller, said: “All the entries were of a very high standard, Bedford’s best butchers and farm shops can be proud of what they have achieved promoting local produce through everybody’s favourite, the traditional sausage”.
