FROM the fabulous winners of the Jubilee weekend battle of the bands competition, to the UK’s best Elvis impersonator there is something for everyone on the main music stage.

Back in June the great and the good of Bedford’s music scene picked power rockers Brigante to appear in a coveted main stage slot at the festival.

And the indie rock ‘n’ roll quartet are sure not to disappoint the crowds at when they perform on the Saturday at midday.

Drummer Dan Meese said: “We are all from in and around Bedford and we have all been to the River Festival before. In the past we have watched bands on the main stage and it’s a great feeling to think that will be us.

“We are all really looking forward to it.”

Joint winners Albany Down are also gearing up to play the main stage, in the same slot on the Sunday. The band describe themselves as blues rock with a vintage sensitivity, and it’s not difficult to figure out why they impressed the River Festival judges.

Other great acts appearing throughout the weekend include New Groove Formation, Falcon, Rat In The Kitchen and Tonight We’re Electric.

As well as all the amazing original bands there are tributes galore. On the Saturday visitors can sing along to Queen tribute Flash and Take That 2. On Sunday there is a George Michael tribute act before headliner Mark Goddard as Elvis.

Mark was voted Great Britain’s best Elvis in a competition run by theatre industry magazine The Stage. He has also appeared on Anglia TV and This Morning in the famous guise and is sure to delight the River Festival crowds.

So whether you fancy a sing along, or just want to rock out there will be something for you on the main music stage.
