Olympic gold medallist Etienne Stott could be lined up for the Freedom Of Bedford Borough this evening.
The Bedfordian, who claimed gold in August in the Olympic C2 canoe slalom, is likely to be recommended for the honour at tonight’s meeting of Bedford Borough Council’s general purposes committee (October 2). A final decision will be made by full council on October 17.
He would be only the sixth living person to be given the freedom of Bedford, a list that includes fellow Olympians Steph Cook, Tim Foster and Paula Radcliffe.
