England star Grewcock rolls in
World Cup winner in town to coach youngsters
England rugby star Danny Grewcock MBE led a coaching session for fortunate students at Bedford Modern School on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Bath lock, who has a total of 69 England caps, was impressed with the sporting facilities he saw at the school and believes that any student who puts in the necessary time and effort will see their skills improve.
He said: "I gave a coaching session to Year 5 pupils who seemed very enthusiastic and had very good rugby skills.
"However, I do believe that they trained noticeably harder today in order to impress me!
"I have always motivated myself to work hard. Professional sport is based on how hard you are prepared to push yourself."
The visit was organised by Bedford's Director of Rugby Rob Hardwick, who said: "I am delighted that Danny has visited us. By bringing in professional players the students can see what can be achieved if they work hard.
"Successful sportsmanship is not just for talented individuals, it is all about friendship, camaraderie and fitting into a team."
During his visit Grewcock also watched Bedford Modern School U15s progress into the next round of the Daily Mail Cup after they defeated Uppingham 20-12.
